ART®
What is Active Release Technique®?
ART® is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART®. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles. What is an ART® Treatment Like? Every ART® session is actually a combination of examination and treatment. The ART® provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements. |
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear for treatment? Training?
During the initial consultation and treatments male clients should wear shorts and a t-shirt; female clients should wear shorts and a sports bra or tank top. On the training floor, a good pair of cross training shoes is recommended. Make sure to buy a pair with excellent side supports. Reebok Trainers, New Balance Trainers, Nike Metcons are good choices. Shorts and t-shirts are appropriate for the gym floor. We are a family business, so please use good judgement when it comes to logos and images on your apparel. We do not allow hats on the gym floor. Do you offer a maintenance program? Here at JXN it is important that the client understands by coming in on a regular basis it will create a better quality of life and improved performance in competition. Therefore, we offer two varieties of programs. The first is a year round maintenance program which there is an initial up front fee for the year, and subsequent monthly payments for a given number of treatments and/or training sessions. The second, very similar to the first, but is only a 4 month in-season program. Please contact us for further information. What can I expect after the initial consultation? After the results of the initial consultation are reviewed, a plan will be put in place to help alleviate the problems you are having. Soft tissue treatments, corrective exercises, and muscle reconditioning will be part of the overall plan. You should see results after the first few treatments. We do not put you on a long term drawn out plan. For best results, the corrective exercises and muscle strengthening should be done at home based on our recommendations. . How long is a typical ART® or Sports Massage Therapy session? Each session, except for the initial consultation is scheduled for 30 minutes. Do you offer nutrition plans if I wanted to gain/lose weight? No performance program would be complete without proper nutrition coaching. Every athlete will be given a basic nutritional guide based on the individual’s goals analysis. We will coach you within our scope of practice. However, for maximum results we highly recommend setting up a nutrition coaching session or attending one of our sports nutrition seminars. Do you perform manual adjustments? No. ART® is not an adjustment modality and we are not licensed to manually adjust joints in the spine or any other joint. |
